Architects Alaska led discussions with the Alaska State Fire Marshal to find a design solution that satisfied all parties. The building was classified as an H-3 Occupancy Group, of Type II-B construction, with an automatic fire suppression system. Vehicle repair and fuel dispensing within the building is strictly prohibited and is only to be used for garaging fuel tanker trucks.
