The 9,169 sf Kenai Peninsula Borough Emergency Operations Center houses the Central Emergency Services (Fire Department) management offices, the Office of Emergency Management, and the 911 Dispatch Center. The building has a public entry as well as a secure entry for employees. The second floor 911 Center is a secure facility that operates 24 hours every day of the week.
The heart of the building is the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) for the Kenai Peninsula Borough. The EOC provides a secure space with computer and communication capabilities to serve all of the agencies involved in managing a major disaster. The EOC is equipped with large flat screen monitors, emergency power, extensive computer data ports, secure masonry construction, and it’s located directly below the 911 Center which is the communications hub for the Soldotna Police, the Alaska State Troopers, and other local law enforcement agencies. The Emergency Operations Center also serves as a training room and a conference room for the involved agencies.
