Project Architect

Anchorage

Architects Alaska is seeking qualified applicants to fill the position of Project Architect in our Anchorage, Alaska office. We have a collaborative, team-oriented working environment. The successful candidate will be licensed with 10 years’ minimum experience in commercial construction design overall design phase services. Alternatively to holding a license, candidates may possess 15 years of relevant experience and be actively pursuing licensure. You should possess excellent oral and written communication and organization skills, have technical proficiency with interdisciplinary coordination, construction detailing, and code analysis, and industry standards. Skills include hand and digital sketching representation skills for conveying design and detailing concepts. Experience with organizing and executing design development and construction documents is a must. This position coordinates with consultants, writes and coordinates specifications and technical documents, and provides project assistance to the Principal Architect.  

The ideal candidate should possess the ability to identify, capitalize on, and respond to the unique challenges and opportunities presented by Alaska’s diverse, extreme, and evolving environment. This entails synthesizing thoughtful, creative, informed, and suitable design solutions that integrate program requirements, site conditions, and stakeholder missions and priorities while exemplifying design excellence. Above all, the successful candidate will demonstrate integrity and respect as foundational principles in the delivery of professional services and client care.

This is a full-time, long-term position, with immediate staffing priorities in the healthcare design market sector. Thus, healthcare project work is a big plus, but institutional client experience in other sectors is also applicable for current project staffing needs. We offer a hybrid in-office / work-from-home mix, have a wide range of commercial market sector projects in progress, and there is great potential for professional advancement.

General Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years industry experience
  • Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in architecture
  • Licensed or 15 years’ experience / licensure track
  • Ability to work independently / be self-directed yet be collaborative & team oriented
  • Ability to prioritize work activities and consistently meet deadlines
  • Revit proficiency
  • Sketch-Up proficiency a plus
