In 1950, the firm was founded by Edwin Crittenden, FAIA, one of the most recognizable architects in the history of the State of Alaska.
Through the 1950s and 1960s, Ed mentored many of the state’s notable architectural professionals, including several who became partners in his firm. In the 1970s, the firm developed a business association with HOK, a large multi-national firm. Ed retired in 1986, formally ending his association with HOK, and the firm re-incorporated as Architects Alaska and has continued his legacy to the present day.
