Big Sandy is a rural prairie community located in central northern Montana, Chouteau County. Although the town’s population is relatively small, the aging, existing community pool attracts patrons from several neighboring towns and is an essential feature of summer entertainment and family fun. The existing community pool facility has reached the end of its service life and is desired to be replaced with a new pool and support building on a new site in the town for seasonal use and shut down during cold seasons.
For a seasonal building, simple materials and finishes can withstand the dry cold climate of a cold Montana winter and warm summer. Walls are primarily CMU Block with integral colors and an anti-graffiti sealer, hollow metal doors and frames, sealed concrete floors, and polycarbonate glazing panels for the windows make this a simple building to maintain for the busy summer swimming season.
