In 1971, the Marga Hoseaus Fitness Center at Montana State University proudly opened its 8-lane, 25-yard lap pool, built from sturdy concrete and featuring a cutting-edge gutter system for its time. Decades later, this pool remained a centerpiece of the facility, but age had taken its toll.
By 2019, the maintenance and facilities team faced growing concerns over the pool’s filters, surge tank, and the now-aging gutter system. After thorough evaluation, the design team proposed a thoughtful plan: refurbishing the gutter system instead of a full replacement, balancing functionality with fiscal responsibility. Additionally, they recommended a complete replacement of the pool deck tile to refresh and modernize the natatorium space, aiming to enhance both aesthetics and usability.
