The Edge House is a rustic retreat on the the Kenai River. Alongside a slough on the renowned Kenai River, the Edge House stands as a unique three-tiered residence. Elevated on robust 12” diameter steel piles, it rises amid the natural beauty, merging seamlessly with the surrounding spruce forest. Crafted with the intent of being a cherished “get-away”, this haven is jointly owned by three families as a private fishing lodge. Stepping inside, one is immediately greeted by a grand staircase, intricately made from reclaimed timber, a remnant from an old Kenai cannery. This historic touch is complemented by a magnificent roof ridge skylight that showers the house with an abundance of natural sunlight. Throughout its interiors, reclaimed timbers and wood articulately define the spaces. Their rustic charm provides a gentle counterpoint to the modern open floor plan and contemporary finishes. From the outside, its green kynar and corten metal siding ensures the house becomes one with the surrounding forest, subtly making its statement. A transparent walkway, leading to a riverside dock, adds to the property’s charm.
Thoughtfully designed, the ground floor welcomes visitors with the main entrance, houses essential amenities, and features a dedicated fish cleaning room—a nod to its location by the river. Ascend to the main living level, and you’ll find it extending over covered parking spaces. This floor is a hub for socializing with expansive living, dining, and kitchen areas designed in an open concept. Branching off these communal spaces are three private master bedroom and bathroom suites, each adorned with its own outdoor deck, catering to the trio of families that co-own the Edge House. Additional spaces include a welcoming guest suite and a loft, offering a bird’s-eye view of the main living area.
