    WESTERN NORTH SLOPE MUD PLANT

Fairweather, LLC partnered with Architects Alaska to design a state-of-the-art Mud Plant in the Alpine Oil Field, located near Nuiqsut village. Tailored for one of the world’s premier drilling rigs, set to begin operations in 2020, this facility emphasizes advanced drilling fluid production. The collaborative design process involved leading firms, including WH Pacific and GIS Engineering, ensuring alignment with CPAI Design Specifications while maintaining safety standards.

Spanning 90’x90’, this two-tiered structure is supported by robust steel piles. The ground floor boasts four 500-barrel mix tanks, equipped with a mix materials staging area and dedicated equipment zones, facilitated by pre-cast concrete panels. Efficient movement of materials is ensured via high-speed overhead doors, while articulated arm cranes enhance operational capability. Above, the second floor features a diverse array of spaces: offices, a state-of-the-art lab, training and locker rooms, plus additional support areas. Notably, the plant’s mixing zone showcases an impressive 32-foot high ceiling, symbolizing the project’s grandeur and vision. Through innovation and collaboration, this Mud Plant stands as a testament to modern engineering and architectural excellence.
