    Challenger Learning Center

Located in Kenai, Alaska, the Challenger Learning Center is a tribute to the Challenger Astronauts and serves as a community and educational facility. Phase I encompasses a Mission Control, Orientation Room, Labyrinth, Space Station, lobby, administrative areas, gift shop, and service zones. Learners can participate in simulated space missions and enjoy distance learning support.

The 9,000 SF Phase II extension adds two multi-purpose classrooms equipped with cutting-edge audiovisual tech, a distance learning center, a broadcast booth, and boys’ and girls’ dormitories.
These dormitories, designed to mimic a space station environment, cater to visiting students from nearby regions and enhance the immersive “mission to space” experience. The expansion notably enables remote learners to participate in the center’s space missions, addressing Alaska’s unique challenges concerning rural students’ distance constraints.
