In 2007, the Palmer Senior Citizens Center collaborated with Architects Alaska to design a new senior center in Palmer. The goal was to centralize services, enhance recreational facilities, and expand dining and Meals-on-Wheels capacities. Architects Alaska provided initial designs, and with funding assistance from the Foraker Group, expanded the center from 22,300 to 31,380 SF. Construction began in 2010 with a phased approach to maximize available funds. Completed in 2011, the state-of-the-art facility, now known as Mat-Su Senior Services, serves the growing senior community in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough. It features a large dining room, commercial kitchen, administrative space, and various other amenities, housed within a modern building that emphasizes energy efficiency and accessibility.
